Expertise. Energy. Action.
On Tuesday 28 March, the ANU Tech Policy Design Centre partnered with .au Domain Australia (auDA) to host Tech Policy Futures at Parliament House. It was an evening filled with lightning speeches, roaming tech experts, future foods, wine tasting with drones, and interactive exhibits showcasing best-practice tech policy — all while the division bells were ringing as the bill for the National Reconstruction Fund passed the senate.
Lights, Camera, Action for #TechPolicyFutures at Parliament House
Tech Policy Futures set out to bring together a community of politicians, industry, academia and civil society to discuss the most consequential tech policy issues of today and tomorrow — and we were blown away by the expertise, passion and energy!
We express our gratitude to our champions who made the event possible: .auDA, the Hon Ed Husic MP – Minister for Industry and Science, the Hon Clare O’Neil MP – Minister for Home Affairs and Cybersecurity, the Hon Paul Fletcher MP, Dr Michelle Ananda-Rajah MP, Senator Andrew Bragg, Senator David Shoebridge, Matt Burnell MP, the Hon David Coleman MP, Distinguished Professor Genevieve Bell from ANU School of Cybernetics, Kate Pounder from Tech Council of Australia, Alice Dawkins from Reset.Tech Australia, Rita Arrigo from the National AI Centre, and George Peppou from Vow Foods.
At the Tech Policy Design Centre, we are committed to developing tech policy, law and regulation to promote responsible innovation and adoption of technology because the tech we build today will shape our future tomorrow!
As our tote bag says: ‘Technology shapes humans. Humans shape technology.’
“I was blown away by the appetite for good tech policy among politicians, policy makers, and experts from civil society and academia. This event was just the beginning, we have heard the call for substantive and respectfully contestable debate on tech policy. Watch this space for further announcements!”
