Report 2: Mapping the Blockchain Ecosystem in India and Australia Case Studies

Released in December 2023, the project’s second report explores blockchain applications and standards, focusing on non-financial use cases in India and Australia. The report delves into three thematic areas: digital identity, supply chains, and records management for resources. Three comparative case studies, 15 use cases, and independent research provide insights into blockchain applications, technical standards, and adoption levels. This report is the second in a series of four reports for the project, the first report (below) was released in 2022, the third, and final reports will be released in 2024.

About the Project

CCG-NLUD and TPDC, in partnership, are undertaking a research project to examine the non-financial blockchain ecosystem in India and Australia.

The project is funded by a grant (GA233133) provided as part of the Australia-India Cyber and Critical Technology Partnership (AICCTP) program and is administered by the Australian Government’s Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade (DFAT). The project is conducted in partnership by the Tech Policy Design Centre and the Centre for Communication Governance at National Law University Delhi.

The grant complements the Australia-India Framework Arrangement on Cyber and Cyber-Enabled Critical Technology Cooperation signed between the two countries and is a part of the comprehensive strategic partnership between India and Australia.

Report 1: Mapping the Blockchain Ecosystem in India and Australia

The project’s first report presents a baseline understanding of the non-financial blockchain ecosystem in India and Australia. It provides a relevant focus on stakeholder awareness and attitudes towards technical standards (baseline knowledge of) and the identification of significant blockchain use cases.
